Alright, after the previous series based on the Hulk, I decided this time to do something that wasn't based off a comic book, and something that flew under a lot of people's radar when it initially came out. So I chose this. That's it. Why are you still reading this part? Just move on to the next paragraph already.
The film opens on a young TSA Agent named Kirk and his friends Stainer, Devon & Jack. Kirk is laying down to his friends his speech to try and reconcile with his ex-girlfriend Marnie, to which his friends immediately disagree with. Of course, he does make an attempt to his ex, and she reminds him that she is already with another guy. He continues trying, even while dealing with his horrible family AND the fact that his ex actually lives with his family, and his attempt does not work. Soon, though, his world is about to change. One day, while working a terminal at the airport, he meets Molly, an incredibly gorgeous woman who he is immediately smitten with. However he quickly denounces any possibility at even talking with her as he feels she is waaaaaaay to hot for him.

After boarding the plane, Molly realizes she accidentally left her phone at the security checkpoint, and its quickly found by Kirk. They make a plan to meet the next night at an event she put together so that she can get her phone back. After being introduced to her friend Patty, they are invited to stay and enjoy. Soon, Molly invites Kirk to join her and her friend at a Pittsburg Penguins hockey game, where things begin to form between the two. Kirk's friend Stainer doesn't believe that a girl like that is really into someone like him, then starts a fight with the guy bowling next to them in the bowling alley.
While always somewhat insecure about the new relationship he's found himself in, Kirk begins to enjoy his new status in life. It's soon revealed that Molly has decided to start dating Kirk because she believes him to be a safe guy, much safer than her past boyfriends. There's an incident where they start to get worked up at her place, then he has an "accident", and her parents show up. Yup. As the relationship continues to grow, Kirk begins to become more and more questionable over why she would choose to date him, as he considers himself a 5, and her a "hard 10". Things get even more hectic when Molly's ex boyfriend, Cam, continuously tries to stir things up between the two because he wants Molly back for himself. One night, after being tricked by Cam, Kirk unloads his thoughts to Molly, the two argue, and it appears the relationship is over.
At this point, Kirk's ex girlfriend, who had become increasingly jealous over thinking that Molly was much hotter than himself, decided she all of a sudden wanted Kirk back. And after the Molly/Kirk split, she pounced, and a family trip to Missouri, matching yellow sweatshirts included, is planned. Stainer, knowing his friend is in pain AND wanting him to get away from the mega-beast Marnie, immediately puts a plan into action to get Kirk and Molly back together, utilizing the services of Patty, who he also despises, and she him. Together, the two get Molly to the airport, where, after a chase sequence through the airport terminals, Kirk eventually gets to her, and the two patch things up and reform their relationship, much to the behest of his ex.
I actually thought this movie is pretty decent. Sure, I enjoy all types of film, but I can be known to enjoy a nice romcom every now and then. This one tries to touch on an aspect that we all have encountered at some point in our lives. Can we be good enough for ourselves to truly understand just what it is that the other person sees in us? I see people every day that are always putting themselves down, and it can give you a mindset of constantly believing that you're never "good enough" for anybody. But much like Molly does for Kirk in the film, it only takes that one person to come into your life and completely turn your world upside down and make you begin to question everything. We've all been there.
The casting choices for this movie are pretty spot on. Alice Eve does a wonderful job in the role of Molly. She had that innocence quality, while showcasing the nervousness of being in a new relationship with someone she had basically only just met at an airport security terminal. Krysten Ritter portrays Molly's best friend Patty, and she has just the right amount of angry bitchiness that the character called for. Some of her insults were golden, including her onslaught on the plane when the man in the aisle was asking the girls to hang up their phone.

The real scene stealer of the entire movie is TJ Miller, who plays Stainer. This guy had just about every catchphrase to come out of this film THAT HADN'T already gone to Krysten Ritter's character. He starts a fight with a guy in a bowling alley just because he felt he had an attitude. His interactions with Patty are pretty funny, since the two hate each other. My favorite line between the two had to be right before the hockey sequence, when the two first met, and Stainer's reaction is "Jeeze, who brought the good news bear? Somebody get her some fu**ing honey." As for Jay Baruchel, who portrays Kirk, basically...I felt like it was just Jay Baruchel playing Jay Baruchel. Don't get me wrong, I've never not liked the guy. Hell, I'm still a huge fan of "Undeclared", and I enjoyed his work in some of the Judd Apatow movies. But quite honestly, he always seems to be playing some version of the same guy. The quirky, nerdy, skinny guy who probably gets high a lot and thinks he's somewhat smarter than most of the people around him. There's two instances that I've seen him try to be something different, and those were in the films "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist" and "Goon", which he also helped develop. Still, he was the right choice to play opposite Alice in this particular film.
There are a lot of other films out there that try to utilize a somewhat similar premise as this movies has. But those all had some flaw that just threw them off the tracks. With this film, they knew what they were making. And they knew where they wanted to go with it. It found a way to move past the rest of the pile and set itself apart. So I do endorse this movie, and I would say at least watch it once, and just enjoy.
